Suzanne Morianz is a designer from Austria currently living and working in New York.
From early on she felt a great attraction to found objects and iridescent things. Rocks and marbles, shattered car glass, broken mirrors, even candy had potential as she began making jewelry. A soldering iron her father brought home provided the first soft metal experiments; she would stand on top of a barstool in the kitchen and drop melted globs of solder onto the floor.
There’s imagery in her jewelry that originates from nature and physics. Yet she finds herself drawn to street art and graphic iconography. Very opposite vernacular. New York City in it’s multi-dichotomy is a very outspoken, agitated place in which everyone is challenged as a participant (player) and a witness.
Suzanne is focused on small to medium production. Her current work -the Neptune collection- are hand made, individual pieces made in sterling silver and bronze with a variety of finishes, patinas and auto paint.
Her passion for design is rooted in jewelry, although her expertise and talent go further; from costume to stage and interior design Suzanne is always open for new challenges inspired by the people she is working with.
